This veterinary pulse oximeter is really useful thanks to its portability. In situ monitoring, continuous and non-invasive. It can be used in different environments, such as hospitals, vet clinics, and during the emergency transport.
Description

Veterinary Pulse Oximeter

The portable pulse oximeter is a veterinarian monitor for in situ testing, continuous non-invasive monitoring of functional oxygen saturation of arterial hemoglobin (SpO2), pulse rate and pulse strength.

  • It can be used in hospitals, clinical settings, home care and during emergency ground transportation.
  • The oximeter works with sensors that provide data for SpO2 and pulse rate in horses, dogs and cats.
  • This device is designed to monitor animals in continuity with adjustable alarm limits as well as visible and audible alarm signals.
  • NOTE: The monitor is not designed or tested to be an apnea monitor.

Monitor features:

  • It provides fast and reliable SpO2, pulse rate and pulse strength.
  • Ideal for use in veterinary clinics and hospitals.
  • Portable and lightweight.
  • Ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand.
  • Use 4 alkaline batteries standard "AA" (not included) or Ni-MH (not included).
  • The battery life is approximately 20 hours.
  • Bright LCD display and easy to read, which indicates the SpO2 and pulse rate, plethysmogram and tables.
  • The rotation of the screen provides a vertical or horizontal viewing monitoring position.
  • Perfusion index signal indicates arterial pulse intensity.
  • Two measurement modes:
    • Localised checking mode: intermittent data measurement.
    • Monitor mode: measures and stores data continuously.
  • Adjustable volume (included silence) of “bip” sounds for ever pulse beat.
  • Positive identification of SpO2 alarm or pulse rate. Low and high alarm limits adjustable for SpO2 and pulse rate measurement.
  • Adjustable volume for alarm and alert tones (including silence).
  • Low battery icon blinks when there are about 15 minutes of battery usage. Information about red priority alarm lights in the alarm bar and two groups of audible "5-beeps" indicate the user low battery.
  • Management of patient information. Manages patient information such as identification, sex, type.
  • Data can be transferred to PC (USB cable is not included ) via a data line storage, review and analysis.

Performance:

  • The pulse oximeter determines the % of SpO2 and pulse rate by passing two wavelengths of low intensity light, one red and one infrared, through body tissue to a photodetector.
  • The information about the wavelength range can be especially useful to clinicians.
  • The pulse identification is carried out by using plethysmographic techniques and measurements of oxygen saturation are determined using spectrophotometric oximetry principles.
  • During measurement, the intensity of the signal resulting from each light source depends on the color and thickness of the body tissue, the sensor placement, the intensity of the light sources and the absorption of the arterial and venous blood (including the time of the effects of varying pulse) in body tissues.
  • The oximetry processes these signals, separating the time invariant parameters (tissue thickness, skin color, light intensity, and venous blood) from the time variable parameters (arterial volume and SpO2) to identify the pulses and calculate functional oxygen saturation.
  • The oxygen saturation calculations can be performed because the oxygen saturated blood predictably absorbs less red light than oxygen-poor blood.

There are two measurement modes:

On-site verification, continuous monitor. Their differences are compared in the following table::

Modes On-site verification Monitor
Measurement form intermittent continuous
Data recording or not NO YES
Energy saving or not NO NO
Alarm or not YES YES

Oximeter connection to PC:

  • You can store 120 hours of SpO2, pulse rate, captured in 1 second gaps.
  • This data can be transferred to a PC for evaluation.
  • Data is stored in non-volatile memory, so it is not erased when the power is turned off or when the batteries are changed.
  • The device sends data through the USB interface, so that data can be stored, analysed and printed.
  • USB data cable (not included) to connect the device to a PC is necessary.
